Tuesday 11 July, 6pm-8pm
at Quaker Meeting House,
School Lane, L1 3BT

An action-planning meeting open to all on Merseyside who want to work together on refugee and migrant solidarity.

This is the second meeting of a new informal network. Last month, around 30 people attended a meeting in Liverpool organised by These Walls Must Fall and Merseyside Solidarity Knows No Borders. It was all people involved in some way in refugee and migrant solidarity, support and action. Some are still fighting their cases in the immigration and asylum system. We discussed the threats posed by the increasingly hostile environment, and we talked about how we can work together locally to resist it, to support each other, and to grow the movement to bring change to the system.

At that meeting, and in messaging chat groups since, people have been discussing the urgent need for action, and some opportunities for collaboration. At the upcoming meeting we have an opportunity to hear and discuss more, so please bring up any ideas or plans you might have.

There are already some concrete proposals being brought to this meeting, including:

  • support for people reporting (signing) at the Home Office: a regular presence with an information stall.
  • increasing the pressure on Bibby, the Merseyside shipping company providing floating detention centres, and linking up with the campaign where the Bibby barge is based.

In solidarity,

These Walls Must Fall, Merseyside
