This weekend, under the shared banner of ‘Solidarity Knows No Borders‘, groups across the country are taking action against the racism and brutality of Hostile Environment immigration policies, as the Home Secretary escalates attacks on migrants, their advocates and international treaties that guarantee them protection.
Groups will demand an end to the Hostile Environment, and for a fairer immigration system based on the principles of dignity, welcome, and justice. You can see the call to action for the weekend on Facebook, and information about the actions happening at the Migrants Organise website here.
This coming Monday 12th marks 10 years since Jimmy Mubenga was killed whilst being forcibly deported by G4S guards on a British Airways flight, and the weekend of action will conclude with vigils on Monday to remember and commemorate Jimmy, and all those whose lives have been lost to the cruelty of British immigration policies, and demand justice for them.
We invite all our friends and colleagues to find an action – online or in-person – near you, and – if you’re able – to join the actions in calling for a fairer immigration system, and demanding an end to the Hostile Environment. Please do share social media posts to invite friends, colleagues and comrades in your networks to join. Migrants Organise have also put together shareable social media cards for you to create your own posts – here and here.
