Unlocking Detention is a ‘virtual tour’ of the UK’s vast immigration detention estate. It is an annual tour, using Twitter, Facebook and a website. now in it’s sixth year. The aim is to ‘unlock’ the gates of immigration detention centres, and shine a spotlight on the hidden world of immigration detention.

This year’s Unlocking Detention kicks off with a great article by Mishka, a Detention Forum volunteer and member of the Freed Voices group.
While Brook House immigration detention centre has achieved a certain level of notoriety after an investigative BBC Panorama documentary hit the news in 2017, a nearby centre, Tinsley House, is hardly talked about. Mishka spoke to people who know both centres as visitors, to find out what differences lie between them.
