This weekend (9th-11th Feb), Right to Remain will be at Lush Oxford Street raising money for the These Walls Must Fall campaign!

In the run up to Valentine’s Day, we will be in the largest Lush Shop in the world explaining our work and selling special edition Hand & Body Moisturiser Charity Pots. A key aspect of These Walls Must Fall is having migrants impacted by detention to be front and centre of campaigning. These campaigners need to travel to meetings and events, but many are not allowed to work because of immigration rules, and have access to only very limited benefits . Some have no state support at all. Every penny we raise through sales (minus VAT) will pay for bus passes to allow asylum seekers and other migrants be central in the movement to end immigration detention in the UK. Our government detains 30,000 people each year in prison-like conditions – for weeks, months, and even years – all for the ‘crime’ of being a migrant. Read more about immigration detention and our work to end it, including recent successes in Manchester. These Walls Must Fall campaigners recently told Right to Remain what being part of a campaign group means to them:
“I feel happy, relaxed to tell my story, about what we face in immigration detention” “In the group, we help each other to be able to tell the public about detention. British people, most of them do not know it exists” “I’ve learned a lot. A lot. Learned about detention, how to protect yourself, how you act for people who have been detained, who is at risk of detention. I used to know only the name detention, I didn’t know what happened inside.”
Lush runs several Charity Pot Parties a year for grassroots groups and small charities. In their last financial year, customers in the UK and Ireland raised £833,265 by buying Charity Pots. These events are also chance for groups to spread awareness about all the amazing work that they do. If you can’t make it down to Lush this weekend, you can still donate here. All donations received this weekend will go towards funding travel for migrants to participate this campaign.
